Dubai Media City (DMC) – the new home of Pfizer HQ in the Middle East, strategically located in Dubai at the crossroads of the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, – creates a world-class environment for every kind of business. In this open and flexible environment, the company can operate with collective synergy and individual freedom. The New Pfizer Middle East HQ building forms part of a modern urban block of offices. Outside, an illuminated blue glass logo acts as the building’s key visual marker. It’s deliberately simple, glazed facade reflects the company’s quest for transparency.

The Project: Design and Installation of Back Bone Structured Cabling Infrastructure and Data Centre.

The brand new, 7 floor office building required a careful design and installation of the structured cabling system and an increased capacity Data Centre to service the business needs and be ready for future expansion.

ISG Middle East – Global fit-out construction and management service provider selected FOSS LLC in conjunction with EC Harris Built Asset Consultancy to carry out the design and installation of Pfizer’s New HQ network infrastructure including design and installation of a state-of-the-art Data Centre.

FOSS Solution:

This was a turnkey solution. The Project scope covered an office area of 6000 sq. ft. with training centre facilities and capacity for over 500 employees. The size of the building required the installation of in excess of 1000 Category 6A outlets and OM4 fibre cable system. The structured cabling solution (supported by 20 year manufacturer’s guarantee) included 10G plus Tool Free Jacks, Singlemode optical cables and accessories to support the building backbone and interconnect into the Pfizer international MPLS network and local telecommunications service provider.

The Data Centre solution comprised a highly resilient network cabling infrastructure designed to be compliant with Tier II, which introduces redundant components into the various infrastructures for higher projected uptime compared to tier I. A total number of 10 cabinets have been installed in the Data Centre and included inter-cabinet optical cabling to support network and server connectivity reconfiguration.

Backbone Cabling System: 24 Core Systimax Indoor Lazer Speed Multi Mode Fiber Cables between Racks. The above fibre back bone cables were terminated with Systimax LC Connectors and housed inside the 24 Port Systimax Fibre Shelves.

The Result:

All things considered, with a headquarters like this, Pfizer employees in Dubai, UAE should have no trouble feeling at home. The time efficient installation allowed Pfizer employees to relocate to new offices backed up by a reliable structured cabling system and a large capacity Data Centre in place.
