Dubai World Trade Centre – New Exhibition Halls

Background:

Offering a million square feet of covered exhibition space, the Dubai World Trade Centre is at the epicenter of the business world in the Middle East, and at the forefront of the region’s ever-growing exhibitions industry. Dubai World Trade Centre has successfully delivered the ideal networking platform for business – bring together international exhibitors with global and regional buyers at their shows every year.

The Project:

With less than a handful of weeks available to complete the full project FOSS – known for employing very skilled staff in the area of technical expertise, strength of manpower, finance, stock materials – was brought to the rescue. An intelligent cabling system had to be installed throughout 25,000 m. sq. of Exhibition halls in less than 4 weeks (the project had to be completed within an extremely tight schedule: start 1st week of October 2009 and finish 1st week of November 2009).

Solution:

The most innovative feature of the installation was real time monitoring cabling system which surveys the cable patching, electronically processes the work orders, discovers all IP devices in network and can also generate the alert and alarm in case of event generation (Systimax I-Patch Intelligent Cabling System).

The applications that ran on the installation involved: Data, Video, Audio, CCTV, Access Control, VoIP, and Wi-Fi.

Technical details of the project:

Total number of outlets 5700 for 4 Halls (size 850m. sq.x 120m. sq.)

Copper Cat6& Cat3 cabling for 5700 outlets for a total sum of 1,500,000.00 AED.

Singlemode and Multimode fibre cabling for a total sum of 800,000.oo AED.

Intelligent panels, terminating hard wares for a total sum of 1,000,000.00 AED.

Cable routing to desks (under floor with floor-mounted outlets) or above the ceiling with drop-downs to desk mounted outlets; around 4800 floor mount outlets and 700 outlets were desk mount; 300 ceiling mount outlets for CCTV and Wi-Fi. Dual redundancy provided at back bone level. Network equipment specified – Cisco.

The Result:

FOSS provided DWTC Exhibition Halls with communication service facilities for exhibitors and the in-house staff; executed the design and installation works, and provided the support training for end user. “A new extension to the existing facility was opened in late 2009. The three Sheikh Zayed Halls, and Trade Centre Arena, add more than 25,000 square metres of event space. The halls are supported by the new Trade Centre Plaza that connects the DWTC metro Station with DICEC” – http://meetmiddleeast.com

The Dubai Exhibition Centre now combines superior spatial design with flexible structure and ingenuity to deliver a multi-functional networking platform at the heart of the city. Surrounding both Trade Centre concourses 1 and 2 the DWTC now has 8 multipurpose halls which can be adapted to suit the needs of the exhibitors. With high ceilings and a fully flexible structure these halls provide the total of 31,000 square meters of exhibition space and can be divided internally into separate sub halls. All of these halls are interlinked by concourses making it the perfect venue for big local and international events.
